Also, I hate the officiating so far this season... even more than I usually do.
I just pulled the highlights from the 2-0 game in MTL and the French feed had replays of the Flames penalties, since SNET didn't bother to show most of them.
Both of Backlund's penalties in that game were bad calls. He didn't contact Edmundson's helmet with his stick, but the cartoonish headsnap sold it. And Gallagher launched himself backwards to draw the 2nd.
Likewise, tonight the trip on Hanifin to start the game was a soft call so early in the game to set a bad precedence IMO. The trip on Gio was also soft as it looked like his stick only contacted Lewis' heel, but ok. But they don't call it when Mangiapane spun around the Jet inside the blueline and was about to walk down the slot with the puck before he was tripped. That's an easy call to make given the 2 previous tripping penalties.
And Dube's holding penalty was baffling.
