That line should have been together to start the season. A good team/coach would have kept their best line in the playoffs together, and at least given them a shot to generate together again.
It’s also about Dube helping to elevate that line. If it doesn’t work, so be it - but that line was the emotional engine of this team in the playoffs, and right now? This team is engineless. They play with zero pace, zero energy.
Bennett hasn’t been awful since that disaster of a game where he took two penalties, and showed more jump in the 3rd period than pretty much anyone else tonight. Mangiapane also looks a bit lost without Lindholm and Tkachuk, and that threesome was great last season. It’s also about demoting Backlund, who, when looking at their abilities, has been the biggest under-performer of the season so far.
