Okay, took a much deeper dive in to Matz stats (that’s fun to say), and I’m going to walk back my comments a bit.
His numbers last year were brutal, but there looks to be a lot of bad luck involved with that small sample size. His BABIP was around .340 and his career average was around .301.
Give him a full season for that number to level out and his numbers look way better, closer to his 2018/2019 form which was actually passable if not decent.
This is an upgrade on Roark, no question about it.
