I liked a lot of the final 40 but I felt like they played for the tie. The first consecutive leaf cycle shifts of the period occurred after that tying goal was scored, culminating in the leafs goal.
It's no coincidence. The Flames eased up when it was tied as if they weren't expecting Toronto to actually try to pull ahead before extra ihg time.
Playing for OT when you tie a game in the third is a dangerous game to play, where you'll end up with no points at all and that's what happened.
They had no problem continuing to bury Vancouver, need to keep the pedal down against other teams as well.
