The other years that you mentioned were only made possible because they came on the backs of ex Calgary Flames players - either Gilmour or Roberts. Without them, they wouldn't have even made the playoffs.


This season, without Brodie, the Leafs would be looking for their first win of the season. The only reason that the Leafs are ever relevant is due to a Calgary Flames alumni. I love Brodie, and still think of him as one of the league's better defencemen, but he isn't in the same tier as Gilmour or Roberts, and thus the Leafs will continue to be no good this season.
