Well, this is the best thing to happen for a team looking to acquire him. The price dropped.
As for being worried about if this kid is going to come in and be an issue, well, he could. I am sure there are lots of examples around the league of this happening. There are also examples of it showing that once a player gives up on a team, he may work just as hard if not harder on the next team to make sure that stigma doesn't stick to him. As a Flames fan - and 100% not holding it against these former players - we can look at Nieuwendyk and Gilmour. Both wanted out, both went on to be important pieces for their next teams.
I do think that the price is dropping on Dubois. I would love for the Flames to acquire him, and I think he would do really well here. Of course it is all price-dependent. I do have one reservation about it, however, and probably a small one - this team is looking like a really good team that is playing well up and down the lineup, and disturbing that might mess with the current chemistry.
If you remove a Monahan right now, or convert Lindholm back to wing, etc. I think the Flames have 3 very solid lines going at the moment, though of course the sample size is still small. If the price is right, you simply have to disregard that if you have a chance to upgrade your team anyway, and especially at a premium position. If the Flames can somehow keep all of their important pieces together and while bringing in Dubois, this team will be a legitimate cup threat.
