The issue right now is how to best tame the pendulum. Pendulum swings from left to right are normal and beneficial for a functioning democracy. Right now, that pendulum is swinging violently with the amplitude on the right constantly gaining height. It's not in an organic equilibrium any more with outside forces adding momentum. There are some forces on the left trying to do the same thing, but for the most part, they haven't succeeded in moving the needle much.
I really think Biden's best bet is to be as moderate as possible to try to calm it down a bit, because the next pendulum swing to the right could break the whole system. It was uncomfortably close this time, and while things have regressed a little bit back to normal with Biden being elected, I think the overall trend is still heading in the far right direction.
I think he has to deliver quickly on the economy and COVID, but things like gun control and some environmental initiatives, can't be on the radar until that pendulum is back under control. If he strong arms anything like that, they will losing in 2024, I can almost guarantee it. A lot of the people who voted for him this time did so because he isn't Trump, not because they deep down inside wanted a Biden administration.
