Ference was brought in to provide leadership. It was a good idea. But in typical Oiler fashion, they take a short cut or the easy answer/way.
After they realized they spoiled 3 #1 picks by leaving the keys on the table and thinking their talent would enable self development they realize they lacked structure.
Making Ference Captain was a day late and a dollar short. When he got injured/broke down it made his leadership harder to relate to.
