I think it comes down to what Republican donors want. If there's a mood out there in the backing money that Trump is just too much chaos, that they need to circle their wagons and protect their wins and make sure he doesn't tank the party in 2024, then it'll get done. There's 2026 term people like Sullivan, Marshall, Ernst, Daines, Capito, and Cornyn who even if they were Trump allies before, might find that the combination of pressure from donors and party leadership are enough to make them decide that now's the time to abandon Trump.
