Interestingly in Monahan’s 20 year old season he also finished 20th in Selke voting getting 19 total votes... 2 less overall votes than Crosby. More votes than fellow draftee Barkov, more than a 22 year old Sean Couturier and more than a 22 yo Mark Stone. I think that was the same year that Darryl Sutter, while still coaching the Kings, made comments along the lines that Monahan was becoming one of the top centres in the Pacific division. Obviously, his overall game just never developed along that path.
Just goes to show that its tough to project these young players I guess.
