I think it has more to do with him flaunting his wealth more than anything. He seems to have an adoration addiction as well as a gambling one.

I do find it sad that it got to this point though. People around him must have seen what was happening. While some people may have tried to intervene, I wouldn't be surprised if many people around him were leaching off him and went along for the ride. I also find it disturbing that casinos will actively give credit to this point.

If they didn't know how badly in debt he was getting, then there should be some kind of system in place to fix that. I get that one casino might not know that he is already in debt to another, but that should be fixed somehow. There should be some kind of due diligence principle IMO. I am sure some of the casino managers didn't care and were willing to front him based on his future earnings, which just seems wrong to me.

I am not trying to discount Kane's personal accountability, but I would like to see more safeguards to protect people who might actually be uncapable of controlling themselves.
