Sadly this is where I think you're wrong. This is always what the United States has been, it was just way more hush hush until Trump came along. It is a country built on the backs of slaves, fought a war with itself over those slaves, and then never did anything to take former slaveowners out of power after the dust settled. Through Jim Crow, segregation, the War on Drugs, and inner city school funding, it's been American government policy to make sure the blacks "know their place", at the bottom of the societal totem pole. All Trump did was throw open the drapes and allowed America's true heritage to see the ugly light of day. The only hope I have is that this is finally the last gasp of the Confederacy, and the US can finally move beyond their ugly history. If that happens then Trump might ironically actually Make America Great
