I'm in part 2 of season 4 of Vikings. Anybody watch this show?

I've been enjoying it, but am feeling rather off-put by the decision they made coming out of the Season 4 mid-season finale and wondering if its even worth it to keep going (I keep hearing about how it was great in early seasons, I'm wondering if I've hit the part where its now "post-apex"). Spoilers below:

I've been enjoying it, but am feeling rather off-put by the decision they made coming out of the Season 4 mid-season finale and wondering if its even worth it to keep going (I keep hearing about how it was great in early seasons, I'm wondering if I've hit the part where its now "post-apex"). Spoilers below: Spoiler! I don't like how after the mid-season finale coming out of a big, unresolved climactic fight between Rollo & Ragnar, how its suddenly 8 YEARS later now. They have all these new characters all at once, mostly Ragnar's now adult sons, who seem like annoying brats. Its given me worry its going to go a more soap opera style direction, with love triangles & whatnot (like Ivarr and his bro fighting over the slave girl, Ivarr secretly can't get it up, etc), which I hate. And they tried to make everyone look more aged, which is a little awkward. Is this the point where the show is past its prime? I'm going to try to finish S4 to see the end of Ragnar - I know the real history (or legend) behind him so know how his story should end - but I may bail on this show now. Should I not?
