I think that’s kind of lost in all of this. It wasn’t purely just a mob of stupidity; some of these guys were devious and prepared. They failed, but it’s terrifying to think what could have happened.

That is why I think it can be argued that law enforcement did both a great job and a terrible job. Terrible because they were ill prepared and downright negligent when it came to crowd control.
But they seemed to root out the worst parts and prevented what could have been a monumental disaster.
You have to think though, some of those people were so close to blowing stuff up, burning things down, and mass murders; if they somehow get away, it's only a matter of time until they find another target.
