I read somewhere that the Chief of the Capitol police (may have been DC metro police) was on the job for his 4th day. No excuse...but very well a reason possibly.
However...this was an epic security failure and comes down to who made the call to not barricade the entire building as we see it.....today. Literally cannot get within 500 feet of place.
