I don’t buy the argument that we know so much more about the virus now than July. But I also don’t begrudge him deeply. I think he made a flawed decision, but it wasn’t out of selfishness.
The reality for most people is their perception of risk changes with time. The actions most are willing to take for a week or a month, is very different from what sacrifices they make for a year, or 3, or 10. Even with the same knowledge of risk of infection and the associated health risks.
I think he and his family made a poor risk assessment in the summer, but they realize he can’t just stop “working” for the next few years.
