Stepan for a 2nd isn't a steep price, and if they fall out of the playoff race they'll likely be able to recoup that pick at the deadline. As far as patch-work goes, it's a decent trade. The Sens are complete trash at the centre ice position so Stepan will come in and likely be the #1 centre - another good way to maintain/improve trade value.
I don't think Stuetzle or Sanderson are locks for the NHL this year.

Sanderson no but Stuetzle will make it and be average at best. He will be okay.
Then again a lot of Calgary’s players will be average at best too. So there you go.
