PLD has a career high 61pts and a career 0.67ppg where Monahan has a career .75ppg and career high 82pts. Both failed to hit 50 this year. PLD may want a huge contract that Columbus isn’t interested in where Monahan is locked up at a nice number for 3 more years.
Savard is a 29 year old pending UFA which means he probably wants a 4-6 year deal at or over $5M which would be a risky contract. Hanifin is 23 and has 4 seasons left at just under $5M.
Flames get the youngest player but Columbus gets the guys with longer term security. Not sure why the Flames are adding a first here? Trade makes some sense for the Flames because they could use a shakeup but no need to overpay in order to have it make sense for the Jackets.
