I've always hated the "Day One" promise bull####. Stuff like that is red meat to engage a voting block and drive them to the polls. Stuff done on Day One is usually achieved by executive order and signals congress the likelihood of the President to play ball and govern through accepted means.
Trump has done incredible damage to our institutions of government and the best thing that Biden could do is to try and re-establish some normalcy to the process of governance. Making the appropriate changes through the course of establishing or changing the law is the right thing to do and will have a much longer impact on the issue than making an executive order. This is the right thing to do even though it will trigger those who claim to be progressives and cause them to lash out. This is a going to be a marathon, not a sprint, and as such take some time to see things fall into place. Those expecting an immediate 180 on Trump and Trumpism are in for a rude awakening.
