Thanks to the mods for coming up with a better topic title. The Americans Press aren't as devoted to following Juniors or amateur competitions, except as they affect NHL teams, and I hadn't considered the context, as relative to Canadians, that Dach is the Captain of your squad for an international competition.

Now, as far as the discussion of risk/reward of allowing eligible professionals to compete, I am a little torn, as to allowing players to compete in such competitions, as I said, Americans aren't as devoted to Junior competitions. But, teams don't want to alienate players who see playing as representatives of their National Teams as an honor. Some of the arguments about the recent Olympic squads demonstrated. (I admit, I hate every aspect of the corrupt Olympic, and would prefer to see it reduced to a mere Track and Field competition.)

I understand that the 'Hawks decided to accept the risk to Dach, and have to live with that decision. But, I also understand where a team might decide that such risks are unacceptable.

We 'Hawk fans will just have to wait to see how bad this injury is, and if it will affect how Dach is used for the upcoming season.
