You also speak about fear. I don’t think people are afraid of the virus. Instead they look at the consequences of exponential growth vs waiting 6 months to herd immunity and support reasonable policies to prevent excess deaths until that time.
Also to the point of numbers you also have to maintain 2m spacing at all times while doing outdoor physical activity therefore regardless of numbers they were in violation of the health orders.
And finally until the anti-maskers start protesting for my right not to wear pants I won’t take them seriously.

Not to mention the potential long term health affects it could leave you with. Just because you survive doesn’t necessarily mean you’re out of the park. I know of a guy in his late thirties that has permanent lung damage as a result
