A 99.7% survival rate means that 13,500 Albertans will die from Covid. Normally about 40,000 Albertans die each year. .3% is also the low end of the death rate as New York City already killed .25% of its population and more importantly it assumes there is good health care available to treat people. If measures like the province has put in are not followed the good health care assumption is false and death rate rises. You also get ancillary deaths and loss of quality of life due to lack of other health care.

So just saying 99.7% survival rate shows a fundamental misunderstanding for how large of death rate .3% is and the consequences of that death and hospitalization rate would have on the health care system.

You also speak about fear. I don’t think people are afraid of the virus. Instead they look at the consequences of exponential growth vs waiting 6 months to herd immunity and support reasonable policies to prevent excess deaths until that time.

Also to the point of numbers you also have to maintain 2m spacing at all times while doing outdoor physical activity therefore regardless of numbers they were in violation of the health orders.

And finally until the anti-maskers start protesting for my right not to wear pants I won’t take them seriously.
