Away for 12 years, and this is what you return with. Alrighty, then...

For sure. However, I don't think a single person here thinks it's wrong to play hockey. He didn't get criminal charges for 'just playing hockey', though.

But thinking about it, there were maximum numbers that could be on the ice. Once everyone else got off and him and 3 others stayed on they were technically below the threshold and not breaking any rules at that point.
So what makes him more special than the other 39 people there? Why does he get to remain when everyone was asked to leave in order to be fair. Since there was 40 people there, and the posted rink limit was 15 (IIRC) who are the 25 who must leave and why? Why does one person over another get to stay? What's so special about him over the others? For fairness sake, everyone was asked to vacate the rink.

So definitely he was right to question why he was being asked to leave and to ask why he was being arrested.
He was asked to leave a lot of times, and told why a lot of times. He only needed to be told once. He may not agree with why he was asked to leave, but that's irrelevant. He was asked to leave. He was told why he was being asked to leave. He chose to be an entitled ###### about it, which brought about the cops. When he pulled those tricks with the cops, he moved up into a criminal charge. Which he was told. And he persisted.

Should he have not resisted when the officers initiated contact. Definitely. But the man definitely didn’t deserve to be in that spot to begin with.
Not true. If he'd only left in the 15 minutes the Bylaw officer was dealing with him, nothing would have happened. If he'd left in the 15 minutes before the video of the cops dealing with him, he'd have only left with a ticket. But he had to be an entitled ###### with an agenda. So...he actually did "deserve to be in that spot to begin with" because he wholly and fully brought it on himself as a result of his actions.

Now it sounds like rinks are mostly shut down and nobody gets to have that outing.
Yep. ###### has ruined it for everyone else now. I hope he's happy.

Does that make you all celebrate and somehow feel more safe?
No. It does make me sad that the clearly selfish actions of a very few are impacting the large majority. But if this year has taught us anything, it's that humanity can be very, very selfish.

And if there is a person struggling with mental health issues at home but having that rink to get out on was an escape. Say worst case scenario that person ends his/her own life, is anyone going to know it may have been because they feared going to the rink as some may call them out, call the cops and tar and feather them on the internet for so called being selfish when they needed that to stay mentally strong.
That would be tragic indeed. However, they can still go to the rink and shoot pucks around by themselves if they wanted to.

No, just not worth the time...
