I think that was definitely intentional though, maybe the entire point even. It paralleled the overarching story about writer's block and the methods the character used to create different scenarios with some connected threads or ideas while scrapping others entirely.

The stories have similar themes of manipulation and uncertainty. They even specifically bring up solipsism, "the view that the self is all that can be known to exist." So I felt that the movie being disjointed was a way to play off those themes being explored within the stories themselves.

Meta commentaries can certainly be off putting or hard to connect with though for an audience at large. That's often the risk I find, they are less likely to land. This one worked for me though.

Maybe I was more accepting than I've been with others because the movie seems to call itself out with how she admits to not believing her own bull#### in the first story.
