Seems pretty hyperbolic to me. I've seen people getting frustrated that some people cannot follow simple rules and guidelines for the greater good. Guidelines that would not be in place for a long period of time if everyone actually followed them.
Nobody is going for a casualty rate of zero, you may not have noticed but we are far beyond that metric. People are hoping to have a manageable amount of spread though so that hospitals are not overburdened and people can still get the routine surgeries that they may need as they come up instead of having to wait because those beds are currently taken by someone with covid.
I'm not sure where you are seeing half the things you mentioned in your post.
