You know, I have stayed away from posting about my frustrations throughout this whole pandemic. I just try to stay away from it all, but when it comes to the front page of the hockey forum that I love and frequent daily, I just couldn't.

If you (and I'm talking in general now, in reference to you saying that it isn't just YOU) can undersand that it is complicated and fluid, why feel defensive when others are pointing out that in a fluid and complicated situation, there have been decisions made and rules put in place? Once these rules are in place, it has to be enforced or they're worthless, which is what was happening here.
The whole idea is to mitigate risk. To try and prevent spread as much as possible, to try and keep as many people out of the hospital and alive. I'm not going to argue that I have been in agreement with the government's response as a whole, but it is their responsibility to come up with something and then to also enforce that something.
As for WHY you might feel that you and others who share similar viewpoints are being attacked (and this is what I had tried to stay from posting), it is because I/we am/are so tired of the rhetoric that comes from a group of people who act like it is in the best interest of society to balk at everything that comes down, when in fact, it is to satisfy their own selfish, self-entitled, me me me thinking and desires.
I am so sick of seeing in the news protests where groups of selfish individuals get together to protest in a manner completely opposite of what's been put in place to protect those very people.
I am so sick of having to tell dying patients that they are not allowed to have visitors simply because they are not in the imminently dying phase because selfish people can't seem to understand why these rules have been implemented. I am tired of organizing zoom calls or window visits for people and their families to see each other one last time because a proportion of society feels it better to stroke their own selfishness than think about the greater good.
I am so sick of the fact that after 9 months of this, millions across the world dead, we are still trying to argue the merits of putting rules in place to try and limit this thing! We are SO close! SO DAMN CLOSE! I have colleagues who have already gotten the vaccine, I will likely get the vaccine soon, there is hope and light at the end of this and STILL, STILL we get garbage day in and day out about people flaunting and being proud of standing up to authority! It absolutely boggles the mind and in all honesty infuriates me (obviously).
Sigh, maybe it's better to rant once in a while but man, I had tried to stay away for so long. With all that said, I'm not targeting you transplant99, individually, and I hope you understand that. This is my response to all those who would post on FB after being arrested for breaking the rules that they are going to continue the "good fight."
