I don't know man, I guess as a coach, I have a philosphy of score where you can. You never know, the guy runs out at the one or two. You line up, he fumbles or your QB throws a pick, or gives up a sack. Football is too unpredictable in terms of time management in holding scores to the clock.
You score points with a minute left, you have to put it in the hands of your defense. Now everyone and their dog knew that Baltimore was going to go after the mid range outs and crossing routes, because conventional wisdom with a lead is to keep everything underneath. That's where the coaching process is wrong. I think with a slim lead like that, defensively you have to almost be aggressive. Unless you have a blazing fast secondary, or a real aggressive attack based cover lber core, letting the completions happen underneath and then attacking the tackle is a fools game.
But the only time, I ever told a team not to score, was when I was up by 30 at the start of the fourth quarter and was telling my guys to give up the tackle or get out of bounds because we didn't want to put 70 up on those kids.
