Check out Tannehill's Dolphin stats. He was good (not great but not terrible like Darnold) when he played but he had issues staying healthy as he's nowhere near a comparable. Darnold hasn't played well as a career 78 QBR over three seasons is horrible no matter how you slice it. Trubisky has been better in every single metric and while I'm not high on Trubisky at all I find is curious how some here are higher on a QB that's clearly played worse over his career. Darnold always had a sizeable bust factor and really he's kind of turned into what some thought he would regardless of his surroundings.
I think it's fair to assume that Darnold could be better under a good coach and in a better offense but really what QB isn't better when he goes to a better situation? IMO the ceiling is pretty low here for both Trubisky and Darnold as if a QB doesn't show anything in 2+ seasons as a starter it's kind of hope and prayer stuff that he's ever going to be really good so why would you give up a 1st for one of them when the one that's played better is available at a cost of salary only?
