It definitely is an excellent game. Many of the criticisms of the game were stupid and I agree with you that it snowballed well past where it should have gone. Definitely a mountain of a mole hill situation.
I still ultimately do think that a slight reordering of the chapters would have really dissipated a ton of the doubt. I kinda wish/hope that such an option becomes available in the future kinda as an unlockable cheat option or something and I'd definitely implement it on another play through.
