Agreed as above you can avoid the map markers like treasures and monsters unless wanting to grind out XP.

Just wanted to bring this back with an update
This is a great piece of advice since I've been really enjoying the side quests part of the game so far (at the risk of ignoring the main storyline).
I can't think of another particular game off the top of my head that caused me to dwell so much on the choices I made or the circumstance behind a side quest. Examples like the truth to what happened to the missing wife, the true nature of Annabelle on the Island, or from the main story line and the ladies of the Bog quest, it's been fun trying to figure out the "right choices"
