If BT trades Hanifin+Gaudreau for Carlo+Debrusk, I am out.

Gaudreau is a top 5 LW in all of hockey

Hanifin is a solid 4D with room to grow offensively and defensively though it might not happen. Probably a 20% chance we have a top pairing guy in Hanifin. I'd rather hold on and see, than trade him for a guy who isn't as good right now.

Carlo is a 4/5D who likely is what he is. A stay at home D who we are only talking about because he shoots right

Debrusk is okay but I feel he is middle six material long term on a good team. Gaudreau cannot be replaced by a guy who basically becomes your 5th or 6th best forward (depending on your view of what Dube becomes). He would be our 4th best left shooting forward immediately and likely our 5th or 6th in a year or two. Not smart at all.

Hanifin to Boston doesn't really make a lot of sense unless we are looking to get worse. I would insist on debrusk+2nd for Hanifin alone then I would probably try to trade that return for an actual right shooting RW for the top 6. Might as well eliminate the middle man and go straight for that guy.

Dealing Gaudreau, I fear is a boat that has sailed given the covid climate and his last year's performance. I would rather let him walk for nothing and enjoy his last 2 years here than trade him for anything less than a bluechip prospect+1st or at least a guy like Cozens+a sweetener. If that's not out there, just let him go. It's not worth losing him for two years to pick up a bunch of maybes and warm bodies.
