I am confident you can buy a set at a local farmers market - hand-crafted too. Check out some of the Winter/Christmas markets upcoming (although COVID dependent I guess). We bought a hand-crafted chess set from Royal Bison up here in Edmonton for about $110 and it was a beautiful board/pieces with great finishings.
