That changes things quite a bit but I think most people were applauding that they thought he said the latter and I still think that type of behaviour is going to problematic going forward.

You would think if someone is calling out the media outlet you work for as being illegitimate it would be sensible to defend your credibility, especially when it’s easy to do so. You’re right though, the reporter doesn’t have to do that. I would have just preferred to see that instead.

Exposing the gaps in their logic on live tv may not change their mind, but it’ll probably cause at least some likeminded people who watch it to reflect on their views. The MAGA mentality isn’t going to go away on its own, Americans will need to be proactive.

As I said the fact that he said “bug off” instead of what was captioned changes things significantly, that being the case I still think these people should be engaged in discussions at every opportunity even though that will no doubt be a painful process and won’t change things overnight.
