Trump is a horrible human being and a horrible candidate, even if his awfulness resonates with a big chunk of the electorate.
But you have to pick your battles, and you have to pick your way of fighting.

Sometimes you just let fire burn itself out.
Biden is experienced, kind, and boring. The Democrats fought fire with beige.
And it worked. I don't think there was an Obama 2.0 available. And even if there was, I'm not sure there was a better approach than fighting fire with beige.
