I don't know if it's insanely unlikely but the messaging is wrong. You can't get Republicans to switch saying they suck. You have to give a policy that republicans can move over too. This is what Clinton did in '92. He promised to balance the budget, be tough on crime, and some social security reforms. Obama in '08 going to the middle class over warhawk and elitist McCain.
