The big question:
How many electoral votes will each candidate win (overall, not necessarily called on election night)
I will say Biden wins the election with 307 EVs. He gets this by winning the Clinton states plus Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, plus the single EV available in Maine-1 and Nebraska-2, and.... Georgia and Arizona.
Trump will get 231, narrowly holding Florida and Texas (but both will be very close) and sweeping the rest of his 2016 states, including North Carolina where the Democrats’ advantage in early voting is erased by a surge from rural areas.
Bonus questions:
Which party controls the House?
Democrats. This one is too easy so I’ll add: they gain a net of 15 seats and add to their majority.
which party wins each of these senate races:
Colorado - Democrats
Michigan- Democrats
Maine** - Democrats
North Carolina - Democrats
Arizona- Democrats
Iowa - Republicans — Ernst rides Trump’s coattails to a narrow win over Greenfield despite being almost universally disliked.
Alabama - Republicans
South Carolina - Democrats (Lindsey Graham goes down—maybe wishful thinking....)
Montana - Republicans
Kansas - Republicans
Georgia* - Democrats, but not by enough to avoid a run off.
Goergia (special)* - Democrats, but not by enough to avoid a run off, but ultimately Dems win this seat.
Extra Bonus Questions:
What will be the biggest surprise of election night?
-Democrats break through in the sun belt winning Georgia and Arizona and coming oh-so-close in Texas.
When (day/hour) will the election winner first be declared by major news networks?
12:30 AM on November 4th.
Feel free to make any other predictions that you want to make for the sake of posterity!
Trump will attempt to claim victory before any of the networks are close to calling the race in his “tipping point” states. The networks will carry his speech and ... there will be chaos.
