Yes he was. He was listed at 6'1" 190. Very doubtful that he was 190 at 16 but that is what he was listed at.
Wright is listed at 5'11" 180.
Now, I personally believe that height is a lousy, and way over-used argument for size - IMO, it should be about strength, especially core strength (think about the difference between Martin St Louis vs Gaudreau).
However, in this case, both are 16 year olds in a tournament for 19 year olds. They simply don't have the strength, period. But a little height doesn't hurt.
Anyway, ignoring all that, the reason I believe that Wright won't be there isn't because of size, it will be because of the depth of the team. We just witnessed one of the deepest drafts in history. And we have the rare situation where the NHL won't be in action, further adding to the depth.
McDavid wasn't really a factor in 2014. And as amazing as Wright is, he wouldn't be a factor on this team. Which is why I think it's a long shot that he makes it.
