I dont know about the Republic is broken, or if it's even at it's most partisan. The 60s and 70s were really violent with race riots and Vietnam. Go back and study the 68 HHH vs Nixon election.
We assume the 6-3 Supreme Court will break the Republic but well see if they overturn everything.
