^ Old Bill Foley has been through all of the ups and downs in the NHL...

That said, I don't disagree with the notion that the season is on thin ice.

Depends on season length...

Assuming divisional only play, 42 games is actually the sweet spot for a balanced/even schedule:

8 team div: 6 games against each 7 teams
7 team div: 7 games against each 6 teams

Being almost exactly half the length of a regular season might be nice, from a statistical standpoint, too.


Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up even shorter, with an expanded ~24 team play-in.

Schedule 'integrity' is very important IMO in any shortened season.
