There have been some new PS5 pre-orders available in various places since the initial pre-orders opened up. Just need to pay attention and follow the right people on Twitter.
While there are a lot more people that can't afford a new console, there are also a lot of people that were lucky enough to keep their jobs, but weren't spending much on vacations, restaurants and other entertainment. A lot of people have extra money they want to spend. I think any PS5 available in the first 6 months will be sold out almost immediately.
