I can tell you for a fact that my car with winter tires is every bit as capable, if not more, than my 4 wheel drive truck with all season tires.
So yes, winter tires make a huge difference. Especially when it is -20C outside. Have you ever tried winter tires?
But you're right, winter tires are no match for natural stupidity...
