As long as a 'journalist' is accountable to his editors and big money, be that public or otherwise, he won't truly be able to objectively cover the news.

There is a reason we are seeing great journalists move more towards and independent way of covering the topics they seem as important.

Everyday in the world there are massive new stories with big implications for everyone. Most stuff gets ignored because it won't drive views. Investigative journalism is all but dead.

How much coverage is everyone getting about the Assange trial right now? Certainly none from the US media, and even less from Canadian media outlets. Do we not agree that Wikileaks is one of the most relevant new stories of the last decade? Why isn't it getting more coverage?

Sad part is nobody gives a damn. News has turned into my side versus them, and there is hardly any more objectivity left.

That being said, with the rise of Substack and similar platforms, we will start move towards a more personal level of journalism, which is long overdue. Hopefully it gives great journalists the ability to share what they feel is important, and not just something that drives clickbait.
