Schmidt would be an excellent addition in a vacuum, especially for a third. He's a very good blueliner and both the analytics and the eye test back that up. However, Benning operates in a world he created. So Schmidt, with Beagle and Roussel and Baertschi and Sutter and Myers and Eriksson, means trouble.
Markstrom and Tanev and Toffoli and Stecher out and Schmidt in. That's a very bad tradeoff.
