In the absence of landing a big name forward, I'm thinking the team should change the lines up a bit. I'd run with new "pairings" for the forwards and also consider trying to land a veteran for cheap to supplement the forward group.

Tkachuk-Monahan
I think these two should be tried together, you have a great playmaker in Tkachuk and a good shooter in Monahan. Both guys have decent size and can compliment each other along the boards and in front of the net. On the RW, I'd put Ryan there as he gives these two a bit of speed and quickness and he can also help Monahan on the faceoffs. Sometimes, you can switch Ryan and Dube a bit for a different look.

Gaudreau-Lindholm
I just don't like Monahan and Gaudreau defensively and I think it's time to split them up. Lindholm has chemistry with Johnny and he's one of our best two way forwards. On the RW, can be a mix of Ryan, Dube or even just a bigger body like Robinson or Gawdin. Maybe even Phillips to give Johnny another shooter to pass to. Or it could be a veteran that you can get on the cheap like a $1 million. Guys like Alex Galchenyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk or Corey Perry.

Mangiapane-Backlund
These two have good chemistry and are responsible defensively. Again, you can rotate the RWingers through, but a guy like Gawdin might work here. Again, signing a guy like Perry would be great for this pairing as he brings a lot of what Tkachuk brings. Galchenyuk as a guy with all world skill, but a low GAF meter might also work. Giving him a permanent home with two real hard competitors might be a good match to get this guy going. Or maybe you sign Frolik for a $1 million and give another variation on 3M. Frolik would also help on the PK which the Flames will probably need some help with Jankowski and Reider gone.

Lucic-Bennett
No need to say much about the bash brothers. Dube worked well on the RW here, but if they want to use Dube to support the other lines above, you can always throw Robinson or Rinaldo into the RW to create a real crash line. It'd be a fun line to have for the Battle of Alberta or games against the Ducks or Sharks.
