Do you live in the Vancouver market? Do you hear all the interviews and stories about the Canucks or Ian Clarke or Markstrom or Tanev?

Yes, Benning and the Canucks did ask Clarke about which free agent goalies are suited for the Canucks system and also who he thinks is a good fit and who he wants to work with. Clarke told them Holtby is who they should target. This was on sports radio in vancouver. They have two sports radio stations covering the Canucks, try listening to them and you will learn a lot about the team and their personnel and how they do things.

Kevin Woodley, a goalie expert was also on, you guessed it, Vancouver sports radio talking about Holtby and specifically about vision testing that was done and Holtby apparently scored off the charts on a peripheral vision indicator which bodes well for his ability to see the puck.

It sounds like the Canucks, Ian Clarke, and third party experts have done some homework on Holtby and are confident that he can return to form hence a pretty big AAV if you ask me. He got more than what I wanted the Flames to offer him if they were to go down that route.

With all the discussion on the Canucks, Markstrom, Tanev, some of you really need to do some research before you spout off in here about our rivals, it makes the rest of us Flames fans look like Oiler fans, ie. ignorant.
Hahaha

Good one.

Try doing some more research yourself before being the ignorance police. Or maybe try actually supporting some of the opinions you reference.

Holtby admitted he wasn’t digging into shot quality metrics before signing in Vancouver.
“You try and know your strengths, I think that’s one of the most important things of having success is knowing yourself and I’m a guy that believes in hard work, competitiveness and a hard style of hockey, and I see a lot of the players on the Canucks that fit into that mold,” Holtby said. “From an outsider looking in, I think it’s going to be a great fit.”

That fit clearly doesn’t start and end with a goalie’s style and strengths matching a specific defensive scheme or the types of chances a team surrenders.
Quote:
Holtby, who had the lowest expected save percentage among starters with the Capitals last season at .879 (in simplest terms, expected save percentage is what an average goalie is “expected” to stop based on shot quality they face, so that basically means Holtby faced the hardest shot quality in the NHL), is projected to post a +1.62 goal di!erential behind the same workload as Markstrom, but again both the Canucks and their new goalies are each counting on other factors to push Holtby back closer to his earlier Vezina- and Cup-winning success rates.

As for Markstrom, he’s projected for a +18.53 goal differential, at least based on the chances Calgary gave up last season, an improvement of +17.81 compared to David Rittich.
Marc Andre Fleury has a better expected goal differential of +6.54 behind the Canucks, but tell me some more about how Holtby is the ideal candidate.

Oh... oh... oh... I know... because Vancouver media bought propaganda... I mean... “story” that Canucks management sold them after their pathetic cap management lost their Vezina caliber goaltender, and the ability to acquire Marc Andre Fleury.

Why would I listen to Vancouver sports radio in sufficient depth to critically comment on all things Canuck?

Oh I know....

I’m a Canuck fan.

Also nice try with the False equivalency to say that if a person doesn’t do said research they’re an ignorant Oiler fan.

Excellent attempt to hump a logical fallacy, do better next time.

Why don’t you go on Vancouver Puck and sell some more of your Canuck love there.

We’re all stocked up here.
