I have always really liked Tanev - really solid defenseman and a heart and soul guy. The Canucks are REALLY going to miss him. I guarantee, Hughes will struggle defensively this year.

I wanted to keep Brodie, but since we didn't, this is a fantastic replacement - MUCH better (and likely much cheaper) than Barrie.

I don't mind the price - I would have thought that he would go cheaper than Brodie, but I think it's a case of Brodie's contract being low, not Tanev being expensive.

Him and Gio together are going to be a great shut-down pair.
