The interview with Woodley from In Goal magazine today on the Fan was great.
He talks about their analytics show how a goalie does when it comes to specific types of shots.
He said they can then plug a goalie from one team into another and see how they'd do. He said Markstrom thrives at the types of shots Calgary allows (unscreened shots and breakaways), and would have allowed
50 less goals than Talbot and Rittich did. Apparently Markstrom lead the league in saving those types of shots.
He also said Talbot specifically struggles with what Calgary allows the most of.
Sounds like a really smart way to analyze new goalies, and like this might be a potential home run for the Flames.
