Flames have 10M left with current lines as follows:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Chucky-Backlund-Mang
Lucic-Bennett-Dube
Xxzz-Ryan-xxxx

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin- xxxxx
Valimaki- Kyllington
+ 2 extras

Assume Mang costs 3M, the 2 extras are league min and our 4th line wings are league min.

That leaves 10M - 6M = 4M for a RD.

Alternate option 1:
Sign Hall (+8M)
Trade Johnny for a 2.75M young top 4. If you find a way to dump Ryan, you can sign a 1M center and get a 4.75M young RD coming back.

Alternate option 2:
Sign Pietrangelo (+8M)
Trade Johnny and Ryan for 2 young Wingers

Alternate option 3:
Sign vaatanen or similar for 4M.

Option 4:
Sign toffoli or similar 4M and move one of our forwards for a 4D

Alternative 5:
Johnny + Picks for a package that bring back a top 6 winger or two and a top 4D for a combined cost of less than 10M coming back.

Options 1,2&5 are the only ones that move the needle on changing the team from continuing to be middle of the road.
