His take was that there are effectively 36 different types of scoring chances that his system tracks. Each team has different scoring chance "types" so something you should consider weighing into your goalie decision is the type of chances your team tends to give up and select a goalie whose strengths play to that.

Based on his models, some teams in his analysis would expect a +50 less goals than expected with Markstrom. This is not the be all end all, but puts some data behind the eye test that Markstrom is better than his save percentage. I dont think I watched a single game last year where the Canucks weren't dominated.
