I think if the Oilers were short of space they would probably just match it anyways, and worry about shuffling players around later. The only way they are in danger of losing Bear to an offer sheet is if it is a Josh Anderson sort of crippling overpayment.
Then again, I keep reading on the other board about all the NHL-ready defensive talent Edmonton has just sitting there, ready to jump into the lineup.
